Construction As Culture

"Construction As Culture" explores the volume of city construction on a half mile strip of South Archer Avenue. The sight and sound of construction work is a reality for residents throughout the city. The viewer is presented with noisy construction vignettes which offer opportunities to question our built environment and infrastructure as it relates to resident's mobility or welfare. Narration from Johnnie Neblett's collaboration with the Chicago Board of Education, "Chicago in the 1940s", is appropriated to serve as Chicago's branding ambassador for 21st-century transportation and construction culture.
