McKinley Park Community Landscape Walk

Chicago Park District + Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events + Chicago Residents

This collaborative approach between city and resident is designed to develop neighborhood placemaking and representation through our shared neighborhood landscape. City dwellers can choose to exhibit a piece of nature on or near their property by completing an online form. In turn, the city and collaborative artist(s) will supply steel placards with vinyl cut text of the requested flora genus and document said flora in a “growing” online map resource for patrons to access on-the-go.

McKinley Park Community Landscape Walk emphasizes the spirit of pedestrian serendipity; the feeling one acquires while navigating their unique Chicago neighborhood. Exhibiting residents will also have the option to dedicate their plaque to a loved one, allowing the placard to function as local commemoration, a learning tool, and walkability sponsor.
